The meals and visits are free to low income seniors who qualify. The cost to provide these services is $35 per week per person, or $1,820 per year. At the time that the ESPN fundraiser was initiated, there were over 60 seniors in Kane County on the waiting list for meals.

Elgin Senior Providers Network (ESPN) Helps Elgin Resident Get Much Needed Wheelchair Ramp
Elgin resident Alice Polock was unable to leave her home without the assistance of the Elgin Fire Department due to her dependence on a wheelchair as the result of multiple sclerosis. When Cherie Aschenbrenner (Elgin Elderly Service Officer) learned of this, she looked to area senior care providers that she knows through ESPN. She contacted Cindy Shaw at Home For Life Advantage who was able to assess Mrs. Polock’s needs and determine the appropriate type of lift that would enable her to get out safely. Following a fundraising campaign organized by the Fire Department, the money was raised and the lift was installed.
